The Grateful Golfer has been operating for about 14 years now. With 1.5 million views and almost 1 million views I cannot express how grateful I am for the success of my golfing blog. Of course, the success of this minor blog is the result of the many viewers who have decided to drop in and say hello. But, this success does not stop me from wanting to be better, it just fuels the fire. To be fair, it really drives my desire to be a better golfer. It is not that I have waned over the years to be a better golfer, however my competitive juices have has not diminished. I am ready to dedicate my upcoming season to being a better golfer.

The question that every golfer has during the off season in northern climes is how will I accomplish the goal of being a better golfer in a short 7 month golf season. Well, that is always a great question and over the years I have tried many different approaches. some were successful and others not so much. As I lament about what is next, I have to think about what will work best for my game.
For many players it is important to keep their goals grounded. That is the same for my game. I could rehash the same ideas on working on my short game and focusing on keeping my ball in play off the tee. I have decided not to tell you what you all ready know. I am going to try and take a slightly different approach to my game this year by working on my course management. More attention to this important area of my game will help in the long run develop the drive to improve my game.
Thinking about my game more is just fun. Thinking about using different clubs on difficult shots (or not so difficult shots) is a good idea because it helps develop various solutions to tough problems. Instead of using the same club for most shots, I am going to share the wealth with my different clubs. This approach will be fun and enlightening, especially with my hickory sticks. It will be important to change things up to keep my passion for playing at a level where I want to continue to improve my game.
Lastly, I am planning to play more golf. Last year, I missed out on a fair bit due to a medical condition. Fortunately, that issue is resolved so I do not lose 6 weeks of prime playing time during the best part of the golf season. I am looking forward to playing as many rounds as possible and still balance the quality of life with my family. Combining these two goals will definitely fuel my desire to play more golf at a higher level.
Finding what drives you to play better golf can be a challenge. I would suggest many golfers like the idea of playing better, but do not understand what drives their desire for golf. If you are one of those players, it might be time for you to put some time in retrospection in order to come up with a viable solution. Regardless of you golf path, I hope you find what that thing that drives you to excel.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
