Playing golf with friends is always fun. Playing golf with new friends is something I thoroughly enjoy and yesterday I had a chance to expand my circle of grateful golfers. My wife is from a small town in Ontario and recently reconnected with an old friend, Michele. Little did I know I would be the beneficiary of this re-connection as I was invited to golf with her husband Jacques. He brought his brother Gilles and an old mutual friend Glen who I knew from years ago. We decided to meet at the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort for a quick round and to take the chance to get to know each other.

I am Out of The Club Championship
My second chance at winning the Club Championship is officially over. I played my second match on Friday and for the second time lost in the home stretch. As you may remember, Osprey Links runs stroke and net Match Play tournaments to determine the club champion and to award a parking spot. Unfortunately, I could not close the deal and I will have to wait until next year to throw my hat into the ring again.

Ready golf is a huge topic and continues to garner attention around the world. The governing bodies are trying to speed up play to attract new and younger players to the links. I think this is an admiral goal and see some changes that will help reach their objective. But, there comes a time where ready golf changes the pace of play so much that players cannot attain a groove or tempo to their game. And marking their ball on the green is a perfect example.

Over the past 10 or 15 rounds, I found that my approach shots from 60 to 5 yards from the green are well below my expectations. Of course every golfer wants to have tap in shots, but goodness, my short game is struggling. Do not get me wrong, I make the odd shot that is very good, but my average results is a good 10 to 15 feet farther away than normal and I find this very frustrating!
