Has four years passed already since our last leap year day? Looking back I see that my journey on and off the golf course took a few detours. Not to worry though, my journey to be a scratch golfer is still in my sights. Leap year day is always interesting because if affords me extra time to work on my golf game and today I plan to do just that.

Golf Goal: Use a Golf Ball for At Least One Round
The golf ball industry must just laugh at amateur golfers. Although thrifty players will re-purpose found golf balls, the fact is that most players will go through dozens of balls in one golf season. Personally, I put aside four dozen new balls and hope that they last the season. In reality, I only used three dozen of my new allotment, on average, over the past five years because I generally get a few rounds out of each golf ball. Additionally, I am not adverse to using found golf balls if they meet my exacting standards (and yes, I do have standards for found golf balls).

There are so many thoughts and ideas on what a great golf swing should look like, that I easily become overwhelmed by a deluge of information. As I sift through the murk and mire of data, I quickly realize that a controlled swing is really my ultimate goal to lowering my golf scores. I continue to work on my golf swing to ensure that that I understand all the aspects the golf swing so I can optimize it to my capabilities. And that is crux of the matter to produce greatness in a controlled golf swing.

If you ask any golfer, sand traps can be the bane of our scores. Depending on the depth, ball location, trap location and sand composition, hitting out of a sand trap can be a nightmare. I have played in my share of traps and for the most part I believe that I can get out of them with great success. So, I decided to ask some questions about your views on bunkers starting with the deepest sand trap you ever played. I was amazed at the results!
