The Callaway Chrome Soft – First Thoughts

Thanks Golf Canada and Callaway for the great gift.

Thank you Golf Canada and Callaway for the great gift I received in the mail. A sleeve of The Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft Golf Ball with Truvis Technology were a pleasant surprise. At first I was not sure about the Truvis pattern, but I changed my mind when I saw Tom Watson use one during The Masters. On my last round, I used the “soccer ball” pattern (as nicknamed by the guys in my group) and my first impression was excellent.

As a member of Golf Canada I was automatically entered into a draw for two sleeves of Callaway golf balls when I entered 6 rounds into their official handicap system. I never gave it much thought after receiving the pop-up that I was entered in the draw, however when I received the email saying I had won I was pretty excited. Shortly after the emails, the little treasures showed up.  Continue reading

You Know You Know You Are Having A Bad Day When….

Golf is an exciting, adventurous, exasperating and addictive game. Some days I play as if I know exactly what I am doing. Others, not so much!

The first three holes at Roundel Glen Golf Course, for some reason, are challenging to my game. I am not sure why, but how I start on these holes is usually indicative of my round. I am not sure if it is just mental, but I always have in the back of my mind “You know you are having a bad day when…”

Golf or Not to Golf – Really?

Golf or not to golf is not really a question most avid players need to answer. A raised eyebrow or puzzled look is really all that is required to send the appropriate message. However, there are times in the season when I have to ask myself whether to hit the links or not.

This question is usually driven by two possible influences: live events and over golfing! The first is a no brainer and I to make a list of life events that would prevent me from golfing is a waste of your time! However, over golfing is a real concern for most avid players. Being able to identify the symptoms is the real key to preventing your game from going stale. Continue reading

A Review of The Awning Stripe Performance Polo by Carnoustie

Performance Polos Classic Collection (1)

Performance Polos Classic Collection

How much thought do you put into buying a new golf shirt. If you are like most people, whichever shirt is on sale is good enough. Unfortunately, this method of buying active wear generally leads to disappointment and a closet full of unworn golf shirts.

When selecting a golf shirt I look for five specific qualities: style, comfort, freedom of movement, ease of care and of course value. These qualities are important because if I am going to spend money on active wear, it must be able to stand up to the rigors of my life on and off the course.

Taking more time to invest in quality golf apparel could enhance your game. Recently, I was introduced to a black Awning Stripe Performance Polo by Carnoustie and I can say I am not disappointed. The “ELEGANT STYLE, TIMELESS APPEAL” of this shirt, as touted by the company, is exactly that: timeless and elegant. From what I have experienced so far, Carnoustie easily hits the mark. Golfing for the Sake of Golfing

There are many reasons why people golf. I could make a list of cool reasons or excuses why people golf, but that would just be silly. Everyone has their own reasons for golfing and enjoying their time on the links.

There are challenges with golfing too much or not having a reason to hit the course, but that is a rare thing. Sometimes, golfers go to the course because they have nothing else to do and I guess that is as good a reason as any. However, sometimes we golf for the sake of golfing!
