Yesterday my 2021 golf season started anew. After 6 weeks of a delay, we were finally able to hit the links. The course was full all day, but you would never know it by how professionally the staff managed the tee time flow and how players respected the social distancing rules. The day was over cast, warm, and breezy; in other words it was the perfect day to resume golfing. Since yesterday felt like our first day on the links in 2021, I focused on one thing and one thing only: having fun.

Rumblings And Rumours About Golf
Being the only province/state in North America that does not allow golf, players frustration is at an all time high. The efforts of many in the industry to convince the powers to be have fallen on deaf ears. As I try to remain grateful about not looping the links during absolutely gorgeous weather, a positive sign of the things to come are slipping through the cracks. The Ontario Government has indicated that green spaces may be open sooner than later and that this lockdown is likely to be the last. All of these rumblings and rumours are a positive sign for any golfer.

If you play in any golf team events, you have to rely on your partner to make some of the shots during your round. Depending on your handicap, the reliance might be a little lob sided. I think that is to be expected because the stronger players have a higher expectation to hit well in the clutch. Unfortunately, some teammates, who think they all that and a bag of chips, allow their ego to run their emotions. Watching opponents walk off the green as they mutter under their breath at the play of their teammates. It is at that point when the cohesion of the team falls apart.

Every golf has to make a recovery shot to try and lower their golf score. Generally, it happens a few times a round and recovering from the cabbage is something that is part of our game. Sometimes, hitting back in play to save strokes has a bit more at stake as this recovery shot did by Corey Pavin. As I watched Pavin extricate his ball from an impossible lie (at least for me), I was awed at how cool he actually played the shot.
