What Is Your Favourite Approach Distance To The Green

Hitting the ball on the green in regulation is the goal of every golfer. To accomplish this task, we think we need to be as close to the green as possible in order to make an easier approach shot. After years of trying different distances, I am not sure this is the case. For my game, I have a dead zone where I absolutely try to avoid as much as possible. It is that distance where my success rate of hitting the green diminishes because I have to manufacture a shot. I often wonder why players do not hit to a distance that works so they can create a natural, somewhat full swing. Well, the short answer is our lack of knowledge and understanding of what approach shots works best for our game. This challenge is a quick fix and one that every player can achieve the next time they step on to the links.

When Will The Golf Courses Open?

I am on the hourly watch for my local golf courses to open for the season. As of Monday, 1 May, I will start to get antsy and fret about the lost time on the links. Improving Our Golf Game By Mark Crossfield

Most golfers I know want to shoot lower scores. World Hickory Golf Day Is Coming!

The Golf Historical Society of Canada is hosting an awesome annual event. I am planning to attend at this time, but need to work out a couple challenges. If you are interested, see the flyer below.

Playing golf with hickory shafted clubs is always a great fun. I have not swung my modern clubs yet, but I hope to before heading down for this event.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Poking Holes In Our Golf Strategy

It is a matter of developing a strategy, focusing on each swing, reacting the results and remaining positive when the round falls off the rails. This process is normal, universal, and subject to failure when we start poking holes in our agreed upon strategy. Everything is going great until a fatal shot and then we re-strategize and throw everything out the window. Truly a recipe for disaster!
