Still Learning How To Improve My Golf Game

Virtually every round of golf I play I realize how little I know about golf. There is always something that requires my attention in order to improve my score. And my round yesterday was no different. Every approach shot with my wedges went left. I did not have this problem for a long time, but alas it reared its ugly head again. My distance was fine, but I missed every green left. I am not sure why but I have a good idea. My approach leads me to ask the following: do you self-analyze your golf swing during your game?

Being A Grateful Golfer!

I have no words of wisdom today to delve deep into skill development. Today, I am feeling grateful. Of course, I am grateful for the many blessings in my life that help me navigate the daily comings and goings. Keeping a grateful attitude even when many challenges test our resolve is a life path I choose to travel.

My life approach of gratefulness also applies to my golf game. Like you, I make mistakes, poor choices and mishits. It is a fact of golf, but as I experience each bump in the road, I always remain grateful for the great things in my golf game. My gratefulness helps fuel my passion of playing great golf and regardless of the results, it remains front and center in my mental approach. I am grateful, always.

Today is another fantastic day. I will be playing golf in the afternoon with some friends. I know that I will hit some good shots and some others, but no matter what I will be grateful for the time I spend following my passion.

I am sending positive thoughts out to the world in hopes that it helps others navigate their golf and life path. My your day be filled with joy and happiness. If nothing else, remember to be grateful.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Playing Golf In The Shadows

Depending on the time of day you play golf, shadows can cause a challenge. I like to play in the morning, but have played in the evening enough times to know that shadows do make our club choices and line selection difficult. The greatest challenge, at least for my game, is while putting on the green. Even putting through the shadow of the pin and flag is a challenge for my game. Shadows can be my kryptonite on the greens. How about you?

Playing Golf With Hickory Shaft Golf Clubs

For the third time in four years, the Golf Historical Society of Canada offered the opportunity to play a round of golf using hickory shaft golf clubs (hickories) at Osprey Links. As per previous years, I was teamed with Lorne Emery, GHSC Secretary and Ambassador. Lorne entertained our group for 18 holes with historical information about the creation of specific clubs, their origin and who played them. Additionally, he kept us laughing with funny tales about golf through personal stories. This event is definitely a highlight of my golf season and I am already looking forward to next year.

Assessing Penalty Strokes After The Fact

Every competitive golfer has been assessed penalty strokes at one time or another. I definitely have collected my share penalty strokes, but never any after my round was completed. Over the past decade, many professional golfers were assessed penalty strokes after their round was completed by the PGA Tour Officials. They have reexamined a situation and deemed that the player committed a rules infraction and as a result awarded extra strokes prior to the start of the next round. Cam Smith experienced this calamity last weekend during the St Jude Classic.
