I love my hybrid golf clubs. Over the years, I have carried a 3, 4, and 5 hybrid, experimented with their use and have settled on a carrying a 3 and 4 hybrid. As I researched for today’s topic, I stumbled across a video by Rick Sheils that outlines five uses to a hybrid to improve your game and lower your golf score. As I was inspired by the video to write this article, I realized that I definitely use my hybrid for four of the instances Shiels suggests and a few more as well. Continue readingSelecting The Wrong Golf Club At The Right Time
Club selection will make or break any round of golf. It is one of fundamental tenants that all golfers must learn. I am not sure that anyone can be taught club selection or can they? I have played thousands of rounds of golf and through trial and error I have learned how to select the wrong club at the right time. As we looped my home course, I can say that my golf was less than stellar, but he 3.5 hours on the links was the best round of the year.

The technique or steps needed to hit great 150 yard approach shots is simple, yet complicated. I realize that I am contradicting myself because how can something be simple and complicated at the same time. Well, it is easy. The technique used to hit consistent 150 yard golf shots is fundamental to all aspects of our golf swing and to forget just one step causes challenges to our golf score. By following all the steps of hitting a 7 iron (my preferred club from that distance, yours might be different) from 150 yards, I found that my ability to consistently break 80 was assured.
Continue readingFixing Three Common Golf Mistakes To Lower Your Golf Score
This morning, I watched a video by Rick Shiels that outlined three common mistakes that are prevalent in amateur golfers. I can honestly say that being a low handicapper does not automatically eliminate these errors, but I think I make them less often. Of the three that Shiels talks about, number one is my biggest challenge. Which one would be yours?
