Yesterday I hit the links with the intent of playing different formats through different holes. It was not to work on anything new, but to shake up my game and have some fun. So, I played best ball (with two balls) for the first four holes and a scramble for the last five. It was all about having fun until I started playing well, then my competitive nature kicked in. Does The Wind Actually Affect Your Golf Ball

On Thursday and Saturday past, I played at my home course of Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort. At the start of the round, the wind was playing very hard and all the players in my group knew we would be adjusting our distances to account for the howling breeze. The challenge many amateurs have is understanding how much adjustment is needed to combat any breeze. Last Minute Father’s Day Golf Gift

Sunday is Father’s Day! I bet some of you are scrambling trying to thing of what to get someone for Father’s Day. Well, as a golfer who loves any gift from his daughter, I have learned over the years to gently guide my daughter what to buy. It is not that I am a golf gift snob, but it is important that if I am receiving a golf gift it fit into my game. For the longest time, I asked for a specific type of golf balls and that was always a great choice, but not we have agreed that calling me on Father’s Day was the best gift I could ask for; however, others still like to get a present and I have a few suggestions.

My Simple Pre-shot Routine Explained

If you do not have a pre-shot routine, I highly recommend that you adopt one. This process is unique to each golfer and the value to have a constant routine is immeasurable. It the foundation of my game where I shoot low golf scores. It helps eliminate inconsistencies born from executing our golf swing slightly different each time. For me, my pre-shot routine starts the moment I reach my ball either on the tee or the general area. My pre-shot routine is simple, duplicatable and proven to produce positive results and I am going to share the fundamentals of this process.

A Telling Golf Stat That Everyone Should Know

Golf is a game that has gone statistics crazy. There is a stat for just about everything. In the past, I have tried to capture a bunch on my own and realized after a couple of years that the data I was collecting was helpful to a small degree. I have discussed stats in the past and have concluded that how close the ball is to the pin on approach shots is really the top stat. I have focused on greens in regulation (GIR), but I think it is time to expand that concept a bit in order to fully understand the most telling stat in golf.
