Pin Hunting With Distance

If you are like me, most of your approach shots come up short. There several simple reasons for this faux pas, but there is one that I make on a seemingly routine basis. I misjudge my hitting distance by not using the right club. I know that this sounds crazy, but if I am going to make a mistake selecting clubs, I generally make it on approach shots. Hitting Off My DIY Hitting Mat

Recently, I received a question from my friend Doug about hitting of mats during the off season. He is fortunate to have a simulator close by, so he and his friends use it as a tune up for golf season. He mentioned that in the past when he can finally hit off grass that he thins the ball more often than he would like. He asked if I had any suggestions about how to avoid this challenge when transitioning from indoor to outdoor golf. It just so happens I do have a fix; at least one that works for me.

Tiring Of The Same Golf Routine

Golf is all about routine. Whether it is a pre-shot routine, a swing routine, or putting routine, the better we play is based on doing the same process and mechanics over and over again. I am a strong believer of following a process because it makes golf easier to play. I know it sounds boring, but it really is not and my scores prove that my approach is successful. The challenge is when my routines become boring and I tire of following my successful process. The good thing is I know what the challenge is and how to fix it!
