Drop The Guise And Just Play Golf

Like many golfers, I have worried about how I looked playing golf. I wondered if my game was acceptable to hook up complete strangers. Because of my uncertainty, I would follow along with what others were playing even though I thought it was not the right shot at the time. If they hit the ball long, I would try and hit my ball long…..most of the time to my dismay. I would basically change how I played golf because I thought that it would be for everyone in my group. After failing miserably during many rounds, I had to learn to drop the guise of playing golf and actually play my game!

And The Temperature is Changing

Every year there is a discernable moment when I notice the distinct difference in weather. Yesterday as that day! It is like turning the corner and the golf season is on the horizon. Imagine that in less than 30 days this will be green and snow free.

How Important Is Your Tee Height?

The proper height of your tee when using a driver is critical! I can say this with my hand on my heart because I adjusted my tee to the proper height last season and it drastically improved my hitting percentage. I added some distance, accuracy and overall comfort when hitting my driver. This might seem like an odd statement because my driver is one of my best clubs in my bag, but committing to tee height change made it even better.

Thinking About Removing My Lob Wedge

From time to time, I like to adjust the clubs I carry in my bag. For the longest time, I have carried a lob wedge instead of a 5-wood. After years of playing the same way, I think it might be time to make a change. I only use my lob wedge every few rounds (if that) and think, for the time being, I would use my 5-wood more than my wedge. Additionally, I could easily substitute my sand wedge for those shots. Therefore, making the swap sounds like a good idea.

Letting Bad Habits Creep Into Your Golf Game

How hard do you work at your golf game? Do you spend hours honing specialty shots to lower your scores? I know I have and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, there are times when my efforts are undone because I allow bad habits from creeping into my game. It happens slowly until one day I am not hitting a specific shot as well as I have practiced. It makes me wonder what happened and fall into a fit of retrospection. Letting bad habits creep into our golf game will always cost us strokes in the long run.
