Do you talk to yourself when playing golf? If you are like me, there are times when I have a whole conversation about my game in just six inches of real estate. Sometimes I am admonishing myself and others I am giving offering a pep talk. Before you start laughing at me, you know you all do it! And there are those rare moments when I drop a hint on how to play the next shot. Yes, dropping a hint is actually an important part of my game and I try to use it when the time right!

My Favourite Golf Drill

Do you have favourite golf drill? Of the 27 million drills (google search) I wonder if you have one drill that you rely on to make your game sharp. I have tried many, created a few, and generally revert back to the proven few. Of all the drills, I do have a favourite one that always seems to maintain my game and many cases improve it. I have tried variations to the this drill with respect to putting and chipping. But the foundation of the drill stays and it this helps improve my touch on and around the green.

Training, Knowledge And Understanding Golf

Talking to most golfers about what they know about golf, the conversation immediately turns to swing mechanics or course (shot) management. The best techniques to hit the perfect golf shot. This area of discussion is important, yet I believe there is an overlooked topic that many beginners are not exposed to with respect to care and maintenance of the golf course. I am talking about the little things that golfers can do that will have no impact the time they spend on the course. Yet, it is an important part of their training, knowledge and understanding about golf that will increase their enjoyment while playing. The challenge faced by many golfers is that the traditional methods of sharing information has fallen to the wayside and it is impacting the golf industry as a whole.

Taking Relief From A Divot

The rules of golf do not allow for relief from a divot in the fairway. It is the most annoying non-rule in golf! I rarely hit my ball into a divot, but when it happens I find it very disturbing, frustrating, and downright unfair! As a matter of fact, I think all golfers should band together and lobby golf’s governing bodies to change the rules to include relief from a divot.

Hitting An Uplifting Golf Shot

Playing golf offers a roller coaster ride that many players ride with anticipation. Golfers are the eternal optimists who live in anticipation for 0.5 seconds at a time. From the point of contact until we actually see our ball flight, we ride the high of hope that of hitting that one uplifting golf shot that quenches our desires for excellence. Our intent is to always hit shots like these, but unfortunately there are very few instances where the thrill of hope lasts until our ball lands.
