I decided to discuss a chipping drill that keeps popping up as I read and discuss how to lower our golf scores. Of course mastering (as best we can) our short game is a definite must to play consistent golf, but there are only about one million different views on the path to take. Lately, I have tried to improve my chipping around the green by using my 7-iron more. I have used my 7-iron a great deal over the past with good success, but I found that my success was streaky. I had a tendency go miss my line left and I could not figure out why. My alignment was good and my hand position was correct, yet my I missed left most of the time. How many times have we failed to capitalize on a great golf shot? I am confident I cannot count that high! And yesterday’s round was a perfect example of how I added to the tally. It was crazy that when I made three great shots, my expectations for a great hole rose immediately. Unfortunately, the next shot brought me rocketing back to earth. I cannot complain because ultimately shot a 79, but I cannot help think that I left some many strokes out on the course. But, that is always the way…..right?
