I have tried many chipping drills. Some have helped and others…..well, not so much. I do support trying to use the same chipping technique for most shots around the green, but switch clubs to achieve the desired results. I have tried many different drills to hone my chipping skills and I have found one that I use repeatedly throughout the season. It works well for short game and I think it will help yours as well.

My Favourite Golf Drill

Do you have favourite golf drill? Of the 27 million drills (google search) I wonder if you have one drill that you rely on to make your game sharp. I have tried many, created a few, and generally revert back to the proven few. Of all the drills, I do have a favourite one that always seems to maintain my game and many cases improve it. I have tried variations to the this drill with respect to putting and chipping. But the foundation of the drill stays and it this helps improve my touch on and around the green.

Lower Your Golf Scores Through Chipping

I decided to discuss a chipping drill that keeps popping up as I read and discuss how to lower our golf scores. Of course mastering (as best we can) our short game is a definite must to play consistent golf, but there are only about one million different views on the path to take. This plethora of choices can make it challenging for amateurs to navigate a path that works best for them. Below is one drill, which I have used, that does help you on your way. It is simple, easy, duplicatable and effective, thus a drill recommended for all golfers.

Guessing the Distance Needed To Land My Chip

So, you are standing 15 yards off the green and the pin is short sided. You select your club and then have to figure out where to land the ball so it will release to the hole. It is a decision that we golfers make at least a dozen times a round (give or take a few). The trick is ‘do you have a process’ or do you just guess the distance?

New Method vs Old Method for Chipping

Recently, I was asked to look at a video that touts that there is a new and, potentially, more effective way to chip around the green. Thanks to Mac Adams for sending me the video and I finally had a chance to look at what Danny Maude from ‘Play Better Be Better‘ had to say. My first impression was that he offers many great tips on chipping, but I am not convinced it is a new way of chipping.
