I thought my big run of playing golf was over until I remembered that I have a 54 hole event coming up in 3 weeks. I have played in this event for years and I am looking forward to it again. It will be my last big event before the end of the season as things will start to wind down because fall is upon us. Having just returned for a quick golf trip (articles to follow) I have about 10 days to prepare. Continue reading

Happy Mother’s Day
The tradition continues. Happy Mother’s Day to all the special people who make our lives awesome! My Mom passed five years ago, but I think of her every day and thank my lucky stars that she guided me through my life. She was a loving, good-humoured, and strong woman who always knew exactly what to say and at the right time. She was a great influence in my life and I love her dearly!
I am fortunate to have still have a loving, caring, and beautiful mother-in-law who has enriched my life away from the golf course. Bea is a very special lady whom I love very much. Continue reading
What Causes Your Downfall on the Golf Course?

Hitting from the cabbage!
As amateur golfers it does not take much to change our golf game. I guess the same is for the professionals, but I would suggest they are better equipped to avoid those defining moments. It does not take much in some cases to change our attitude, confidence or comfort from good too bad. Likely the opposite is true, but I find fall into the abyss is easier than climbing out.
Understanding our swing mechanics is helps redefine out focus if things are heading south, yet I believe it is not the real challenge. Generally, our swing mechanics remain constant throughout a round of golf. Of course, the better the golfer, the more consistent. But overall, focusing on swing mechanics is a rabbit hole that does not prevent the slide in the wrong direction. Continue reading
Osprey Links 3 Man Scramble – Results
As you will remember, Geary, Blair and I entered a 3 man scramble last Sunday at Osprey Links Golf Course. Jeff Rogerson, the club pro and general manager, organized a great event with the support of his awesome team. To top off the great golf, Jeff’s team provided a fantastic roast beef meal with all the fixings. It was a perfect way to end our time on the links.
Geary, Blair and I had never played together as a group, yet our individual strengths made us a good team on paper. So we embarked on a journey into the unknown, fun and excitement. The rules were fairly straight forward and not uncommon for a scramble tournament. We all arrived early, entered the skins competition, and prepared for a fun round on the links. There was 38 teams in this event with two teams starting off each hole and one par 5 had four teams. The day remained overcast with little wind and no rain.
A Duck Sighting!
The duck is the topic of many happy conversations at The Grateful Golfer. It is a competition between best friends who have found a way enhance their time on the links. If you want to read more about the duck, check out a recent update at the following link or type duck in the search function on the right and see the whole story!
This duck has travelled. It has experienced 20+ courses in Canada, several courses in the UK, and is resting comfortably in Brussels at the moment! Amazingly, this little duck keeps showing up at the strangest places.
At this time, Kirk is hitting the links and is increasing the adventures of the duck as we speak. His pics show that the duck challenge is alive and well because he is taking our little friend (part of the deal as caretaker of the duck) on a golfing adventures. Kirk did not talk about his game, but
knowing him he will under play his score in order to fleece me for more strokes for the next time we play.
Kirk, thanks for the update. I can see from your smile that your round did not put you are not in a fowl mood.
I am looking forward to our next match for the duck!
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
