All golfers know that at one time or another, during every round of golf, they will be hitting out of trouble. It does not matter how well you hit the ball on any given day, something is bound to test your ability to recover. After many, many different shots from less than perfect positions, we all can say with certainty that some recovery shots better suit our game than others. We all have our favourite worst shot to have to make and hope when things go sour, that is the worst that it gets. It really is a matter of perspective!

Hitting Out Of The First Cut
On many golf courses, the fairway is lined with a first cut where the grass about twice as long (or more) than the fairway. Generally the ball is about half cover and this creates the potential for grass getting between the club face and ball on contact. In many instances, this causes the ball to release farther when landing on the green because of the lack of spin caused by the grass. However, I have found a solution to this that I think might be helpful for your game.

Changing the Rules of Golf
The governing bodies of golf are changing the rules. Set to take effect in 2019, these rules will designed to make the game simpler for the average golfer to play. They are discarding the decisions book entirely and reducing the number of rules from 34 to 24. Well, I can say that it is about time! Continue reading
