Is Wearing A Golf Glove Important?

Golf equipment comes in many sizes, shapes, and materials. Some have multiple uses, but most have a single use. There are different tools used by golfers to improve many aspects of their golf game that are easily identifiable. The most obvious (removing clubs and balls) is a golf glove. It is the one accessory 75% of golfers feel is required to play great golf. I am not completely convinced, however it is a topic worth investigating.

More Golf Bags Than Golf Gloves

Yes, you read the heading correctly. In my current inventory of golf supplies I own more golf bags than golf gloves. I think I in the minority for this fact, but I cannot really prove it. So, lets just say that I am unique! All joking aside, I actually have about seven golf bags, but only two that I actually use. The rest are storing my spare golf clubs, therefore I do not count them in my total. With this fact, I still have more golf bags than gloves!

Unlike many golfers, I do not wear a golf glove. I realize that most golfers do and recently I was wondering how many golf gloves an average player goes through in a season. I was surprised to know that many players use 10 or more gloves in just one season. That at $15 a glove, that amounts to some serious cash. So, now I am wondering if it is worth the cost or not? Do You Wear a Golf Glove?

I do not wear a golf glove. I wore one about 25 years ago, but broke the habit of and cannot remember why. It is not necessarily a bad thing, but the more I look around the golf course, the more I see that I am in the minority.

I am not trying to buck the system; nor am I a rebel, but I do not see the value of wearing a glove while I play golf. Additionally, if it is so valuable, why do players remove it when putting? Shouldn’t a golf glove be important for all shots? Continue reading
