I thought it might be time to reign in my expectations on how good of a golfer I can really become. I have talked about being a scratch golfer for years and the closest I came was 2 years ago with a handicap index of 2.7. Last year, due to many reasons, the closest I came to my goal was 3.8. That is a full 1 point higher than the previous year! What the heck is going on? Continue reading

Do You Really Need 14 Golf Clubs?
We all know that 14 clubs is the maximum anyone can carry during a round of golf. There is no limit on the minimum number of clubs, but 14 is max. There are reasons for only 14 clubs, however that would be a topic that would take us down the rabbit hole. Knowing how to distribute the type of clubs you carry is determined by your game.
But, I really need to ask, do you really need to carry 14 clubs when you play? Continue reading
The Golden Nuggets of Golf
Life’s journey never ends! We have the ability to change so many aspects of our lives and all it takes is a decision to start. Personally, I believe this is the most difficult aspect of any first steps, yet the most important.
Deciding to change something golf related is no different. Whether you want to fix part of your swing, refocus on how to play your rounds, or make an impact within the golfing community it takes a decision to start a new journey. Regardless of what you are doing or where you a headed, making real change comes down to two very special ‘somethings’ that must be present or else your path down on that branch of your life’s journey is short-lived!

Dustin Johnson and Brooke Henderson finally had their break out season that was expected by all. And Rory McIlroy salvaged his season by winning the FedEx Cup. But, professional golf is not the only thing happening in the golfing world.
Many amateurs, including myself, hit the links as often as possible in attempts to shoot their lowest score ever. Others decided that having fun and not keeping score was the way to play. And yet, a final group just hit the ball and enjoyed being on the links. Unfortunately, their golf season is also ending. For those of us in the northern clime and now is the time for introspection. Playing Golf With A Caddie
I watch professional golfers manage their way around the course with their faithful sidekick. Caddies have been part of golf since the beginning and they bring an important dimension often overlooked. Much like Batman and Robin, Rocky and Mic, or R2D2 and C3PO – the whole is greater than the individual.
I have never played golf with a caddie so my view is very limited. However, I talked to many friends who have played a round with a caddie and all agree that they played better golf because of the guidance the received from their looper. Although my information is anecdotal, I believe there is value to have a professional caddie during a round of golf. Continue reading
