Every round of golf has the potential to result in a fantastic score. Regardless of the course, every player can visualize shooting a score they can be proud of while kibitzing at the 19th hole. It is a matter of developing a strategy, focusing on each swing, reacting the results and remaining positive when the round falls off the rails. This process is normal, universal, and subject to failure when we start poking holes in our agreed upon strategy. Everything is going great until a fatal shot and then we re-strategize and throw everything out the window. Truly a recipe for disaster!

Knowing this, I often wonder why players do not spend more time working on their fundamentals of putting. Over the years, I have spent many hours perfecting my putting stroke. It is unique and works for my game. If you have not taken the time to cement your putting stroke, I suggest you do because it is a stroke saver. Having said that, there are some fundamentals that most player should know and adopt to improve their flat stick play.

The first day at the Masters was exciting. With 44 players sitting at even or better (just over half), moving day is shaping up to be exciting. Three players shot minus 7 to lead the field as I expected. Hovland, Rahm and Koepka’s score is two lower than I thought, they did establish themselves as the players to beat. Now that Friday is here, Augusta National will start to rear its toughness expected by many during the first round. However, the playing conditions were perfect and 44 players refused to bow to the pressure. So what is instore for Moving Day at this year’s Masters? Can the players respond with the same scoring now that the weather is starting to roll in?
