I carry 14 golf clubs. I use everyone over the course a couple rounds and do not shy away for any of them. If I did not use one because I had zero confidence in it, I would take it out of my bag. No sense lugging it around for no reason. Knowing that all my clubs have an impact to my score, I do practice using them all when I hit the range. Knowing that my game relies on all my clubs, it does not mean that I do not have a favourite. My ‘go to’ club that rarely fails me regardless of the shot. My confidence in this club is higher than all the rest and as a result, when things get challenging, out it comes.

Successfully Chipping Over A Bunker
There is little doubt that every golfer will find themselves out of position during their round of golf. In some cases, players will have to hit their ball over an obstacle in order to land their ball close to the pin. A majority of the time it will be a bunker, but a water hazard, plants or rocks can cause the same distress on their close approach shot. One of my earliest challenges with my golf swing was to understand weight distribution. I tried to keep everything in the neutral position because I thought this balanced position was the key to hitting the ball straight. After realizing that this was not the case, I transition to making a slight weight transition from the inside of my trail leg to the inside of my lead leg. This help a bit with my swing, but I found that I was still not maximizing my distance potential. Now, I have a bit more of a weight shift (distribution) in my swing, but do not think it is enough to really hit the ball a long way. It is important to note that depending on the club we are hitting, the weight distribution will change. Talk about a challenging subject when we do not have the fundamental details to what is considered successful. If you are wondering where your swing weight shift stands then there is video below that explains everything.

I am always searching for ways to lower my golf score. As an experienced player, one would think that I have a great idea on how to lower my golf score without the challenge of trying to overhaul my swing. For the most part, this is very true. The new golfer (and some experienced player) may not have that luxury of knowledge of your swing or even an understanding of the basic science of a golf swing in order to make adjustments to their game. As it turns out, I came across a video by Chris Ryan that offers five mistakes that beginners make that can be applied to every golfers game regardless of their skill. Chris’ observations are simple, common sense, and fixable by every golfer which in turn will lead to lower golf scores.

Have you ever wondered why golfers want to change their golf swing during a round? I realized that most amateurs understand that shooting a low score is always the goal, however I often wonder if they really understand the process of improving in golf. Or maybe I am the one that is too rigid in my thinking where my processes are not appealing or possible for the average player. Regardless, my journey to low golf scores can be boiled down to one factor that affects every golfer (or athlete) who have an inkling about improving their athletic abilities. It is so universal, that it is often overlooked by coaches and players. It is the one factor we all want more of ….. Time!
