What kind of a golf blog would this be if I did not mention the Phil vs Tiger match tomorrow? It is a pay for view event that does not garner my interest. I am not sure if how the fans are responding either. To be fair, it is too early to tell what kind of response the match will generate, but I am sure we will hear about it over the next week or so. Until then, we can speculate on its overall marketing success, but I am a bit more interested in the head to head battle. Continue reading

Playing Golf With Better Players
If you are reading this post, you were probably intrigued by the title of this article. As a 5 handicapper it is difficult to consistently play against players who are significantly better. As with Osprey Links, that is a challenge at most public courses. However, I think it is important that all golfers, regardless of your skill level, play golf with better golfers as much as possible. And that is exactly what I did last Saturday when I played my Match Play round against Brooks. Continue reading
Second Leg of My Match Play Event Complete
I am in a Gross Match Play event at my local golf course – Osprey Links. It is the first time I signed up for such an event in many years and I just finished the second round of this tournament on Friday past. I played against Dave Vezina and I have to say that our round was very pleasurable and we had some great conversation. Before I go any further, I have to apologize to Dave, the one picture we took did not work….thanks Blair for all the help! 😉 I closed Dave out on the 13th hole, but in all fairness, the match was closer than the score. Continue reading
The Duck Challenge Goes Today!
Today is the day for the duck challenge! As most of you know, the loser must keep the duck safe and carry it periodically while playing a round or two until we have a chance to play again.
The last three challenges have not gone well for me. At first, I gave him too many strokes, that issue is fixed. The next two times, he won straight up and the matches were close.
Today’s duck challenge will determine if the duck returns to Canada or goes on a European vacation!
The rules are straight forward. The challenge is a match play format and I give my friend two strokes a side. If we are still tied after 18 holes, we count the strokes (he receives a total of 4 towards his score) to break the tie.
Although I have only played twice in 5 months, I think today is my day to finally “not” win the duck!
Stay tuned for the results!
I am a grateful golfer. See you on the links!
