If anyone ever tells you that golf is not a thinking game, then they have not played it competitively. Initially, golf is a sport where one plays against ones self and eventually expands into playing against others. During that entire journey, all golfers (regardless of their skill level) think about the 100 influences during every shot. There are times when I walk off the course mentally drained instead of physically. On those days, I usually played in a competition of some sort. Senior Men’s Ryder Cup 2017
In North Bay, Osprey Links Golf Club and the North Bay Country Club play and annual home and away called the Ryder Cup. Each team consists of 32 players over the age of 55. Creating 16 teams of 2, they compete in a head to head competition for the Caldwell Cup. This year, we played in the scramble format for both days. Each 9 holes was worth 1 point for a two-day total of 64 points. To win on team must accumulate 32.5 points over the two days. This year, the Golf and Country Club won 37 to 27. Continue reading
Play a Full 18 Holes of Golf
Yesterday, I played in my second golf tournament in two days. It was the Senior Men’s Invitational at Osprey Links Golf Course. It was the first time I entered in this event and I have to say, it was great fun and something I will try to enter again next year. The stroke play format was divided into age groups and I was in the 55 to 59 group. We had many different age groups and caliber of players, yet everyone appear very satisfied with the format, the tee selection and their playing partners. Continue reading
Maleah – “Smoochie Poochie” the Goose-Chaser

My home course has a new member who is famous for her ability to bring out the best in even the most disheartened golfer. Success on The Third Leg of My Match Play Tournament
The title tells it all. I advance to the finals of the B Flight. My opponent, Mike, had a bit of a roller coaster ride during out match and as a result could not overcome my steady play. I did not make any flashy shots, but hit the ball very well from tee to green. However, my putting was suspect and fortunately it did not cost me in the end. Continue reading
