After golfing for 45+ years, I have gained a bit of knowledge. Most of my understanding of golf was gleaned from my own experiences, plus a helping hand for far more seasoned players. I accepted their help because at the time my need was great to get over a hurdle or two. It all worked out and I was fortunate to be able to use this information to catapult my game to the next level. Recently, I was asked to share my golf knowledge with some aspiring players. I happily agreed to help, but it is important to note that I went in with my eyes wide open.

Are Poor Golf Shots Preventable?

Every round of golf has the potential to result in many poor shots. Sometimes, when the stars align the number of poor shots drastically reduce. I have had my share of great rounds (and the other ones as well) where my number of poor shots determined my low score. During the great and poor rounds, I always wonder if any of my poor golf shots were preventable. The answer is always yes and I think I know why!

Stop Hurrying Our Golf Shot

There are many golf shot routines offered by an equal number of ‘experts’. Over the years I watched many great players hit golf balls and none were exactly the same. Many had things in common, but none were identical. The reason for this disparity is that each routine is tailormade for the individual. Each player has a different physique, swing path, and capabilities. Having said this, there are some commonalities that provide a starting point for players. Three points offered by Chris Ryan are something that I do and have included them in my routine on almost every shot. They are simple, repeatable and do not take a great deal of practice to master; traits I always look for in golf tips.

My Simple Pre-shot Routine Explained

If you do not have a pre-shot routine, I highly recommend that you adopt one. This process is unique to each golfer and the value to have a constant routine is immeasurable. It the foundation of my game where I shoot low golf scores. It helps eliminate inconsistencies born from executing our golf swing slightly different each time. For me, my pre-shot routine starts the moment I reach my ball either on the tee or the general area. My pre-shot routine is simple, duplicatable and proven to produce positive results and I am going to share the fundamentals of this process.

Is Your Set Up Wrong For Your Golf Game

Our golf game is unique as every snowflake. Regardless of your skill level, every players has something special about their set up. The reason for this cannot be limited to one thing, but generally we all have a different body shapes, flexibility, and muscle movements that drive our desire to create a set up that works for our game. From time to time, I forget to use my unique stet up to ensure I am playing my best golf. But that is my challenge and one I know and understand all too well. Knowing how set up is very important to my game, I do have a tip that I want to share because it is a fault I made in years past and one I make from time to time.
