Under Performing at Golf

Do you have high expectations of your performance when playing golf?

Every time I hit the links I have expectations. They are usually high, but every now and then, I under perform (at least in my mind), yet still score well. These days are rare, however they do creep into my game. I guess the real question is what does under performing really mean? Of course, the answer is relative to the player asking and what I consider a poor playing round may not look that way to my playing partners. It is on those days I do try to not verbalize my disappointment, but stay focused on my game at hand. Continue reading

Ellie – A New Member of The Osprey Links Team

Does your golf course have a “get rid of the geese” plan? Osprey Links is a wonderful location for Canada Geese because of the wide open area and plenty of water. Unfortunately, they are a nuisance, but Ellie is to the rescue. She is a beautiful pup who is full of energy and love for all the patrons. Ellie is a welcomed member of the team and I look forward to watching her run around the course keeping the geese at bay. Continue reading

Keeping A Streak of Birdies Alive

Hitting to the 12th green over some friends.

My fun on the course increases exponentially depending on the number of birdies I shoot during a round. I expect to shoot at least 1 birdie and on most days 2. But there are those special days where I score more than 2 and my score usually reflects my good fortune.

Although expect to shoot birdies, even those rounds exceeded my expectations. Additionally over the years, I have shot 3 and 4 birdies in on round many of times. But, only twice have I shot 4 birdies in a row! What a thrill! Continue reading

Being Prepared Helps My Golf Game

As I sit in the chemotherapy chair for part two of my 2-day treatment (second treatment), my mind races through all the tasks I need to complete everyday to prepare my mind and body for a success.. If you have never experienced cancer treatment as a patient, caregiver, family member or friend (I pray you never will), it is hard to fathom the multitude of tasks needing completion every day. I thought I was busy before, but now it can be a bit overwhelming. I do not think I will ever say ‘I do not have time’ to do something again. On a side note it is just as bad for the caregiver or family member helping every step of the way! My wife and best friend Teri can attest to that, she is awesome and a blessing everyday. I am grateful for all she does!

Well, how does this relate to golf. The obvious statement is if you do not practice a certain swing, you will not improve. This tenant is true for just about everything one wishes to improve upon, but there is so much more to your golf game than just practicing. Continue reading
