Increasing Our Golf Knowledge Lowers Scores

Over the past 10 years, The Grateful Golfer has provided a plethora of instructional advice that may or many not have helped your game. The reason I have added an exit sentence is because depending on your golf knowledge, the instructional advice was helpful or useless. If you are new to golf and really want to improve your game, then I recommend that you increase your golf knowledge and turn it into action. This process is how beginners become great golfers. Learn, understand, execute, and repeat is how golfers lower their golf scores. There is no quick fix, instant understanding, or one specific method that all golfers use to be a scratch handicapper. I will suggest that all successes are rooted in the amount of golf knowledge you use during your golf game.

Why Is It So Difficult To Find The Bottom Of Our Golf Swing?

The lesson of ball placement with respect to the bottom of our golf swing keeps smacking me in the face. Surprisingly, I struggle with this skill and execution from time to time. I am not sure why I do, but it is a common fault for most amateurs. The concept is very simple, however making this shot consistently can cause us fits. It seems to be a lesson I continue to learn and relearn. I am confident most amateurs feel the same way, so here is another look at how to determine where to place the ball in relation to the bottom of our golf swing.

Playing Golf In The Shadows

Depending on the time of day you play golf, shadows can cause a challenge. I like to play in the morning, but have played in the evening enough times to know that shadows do make our club choices and line selection difficult. The greatest challenge, at least for my game, is while putting on the green. Even putting through the shadow of the pin and flag is a challenge for my game. Shadows can be my kryptonite on the greens. How about you?

Follow Through On All Your Golf Shots!

One of the most underrated aspect of our golf swing is the follow through. I have watched so many different versions of this critical move that I am confident that the follow through is an after thought for most amateurs. Years ago I know that I was focused on the position of my club at the top of my swing vice where it finished. As my knowledge and understanding of grew, I realized that my overlooking my follow through, I was negating all the effort I made in the other aspects of my swing. Well, I am here to say that if you do not have an understanding of your follow through, you are likely holding back your golf game.

Weight Transfer In Your Golf Swing

If you are new to golf or you want to improve your swing, then weight transfer has been on your list of areas to improve. I find that weight transfer poses a challenge from time to time because I forget to properly transfer my weight from my trail foot to my lead foot. Golf is a game played from the ground up and understanding the proper method to transfer our weight is critical to improving all areas of our game. Also, I found a great drill to help improve our weight shift that is simple and repeatable.
