Golf is a game of intent. Regardless if you just pick up the sticks or have more rounds completed than you can count, golf is a sport where each shot should be made with the intention of either sinking or positioning the ball. It is not a difficult concept in theory, but the execution of each shot is definitely more difficult than we think. Personally, I try to visualize each shot from the moment of contact until my ball comes to rest. It is a process that I feel is important go great golf. It is one process that is easily learnt.

A Chipping Drill For All Situations
I have tried many chipping drills. Some have helped and others…..well, not so much. I do support trying to use the same chipping technique for most shots around the green, but switch clubs to achieve the desired results. I have tried many different drills to hone my chipping skills and I have found one that I use repeatedly throughout the season. It works well for short game and I think it will help yours as well.

It is that time of year where I start to formulate my plan to lower my golf score in the upcoming golf season. Of course, I am focused on sharpening my short game because over the years, that has proven the best way to sustain my current low scores. But, what do I need to do to this year improve my scores and to keep this improvement moving forward. As I watch the movie ‘Seven Days In Utopia’, I am reminded of the saying that “the first step to finding a good game is to find some conviction”. In other words, be a student of the game and be open to adjusting/changing/improving the areas that need improving. Well, I think I know the where my conviction lies this year and I am excited to get started.

I am fairly confident that during a friendly most amateurs who land in a divot on the fairway will use a foot wedge to improve their lie. I do say this with tongue in cheek, however I am pretty sure it does happen. During competitions I would say that this would never happen and all golfers would play it as it lies. Over the many, many years of playing golf I rarely (maybe twice a year) land in a divot in the fairway and as such do not work on hitting out of divots on a routine basis. This does not mean I have not worked on this important skill, it just means that I can.
Continue readingPutting With Tiger Woods
If you do not have a putting routine, I suggest that your next trip to the practice area is the time to start to develop one. A putting routine is likely the most important golf process that any player can develop. The best players in the world definitely spend a great deal of time reinforcing their putting prowess and as I watch Tiger Woods, a pre-shot routine can be simple and easily repeatable. It is interesting to listen to Tiger Woods talk through his putting process as one of the greatest players of all time shares his secrets.
