Every golfer uses the putter more than any other club in their bag. If you are not sure this is the truth, I am confident that if you analyze your last round of golf, my statement will prove correct. Knowing this, I often wonder why players do not spend more time working on their fundamentals of putting. Over the years, I have spent many hours perfecting my putting stroke. It is unique and works for my game. If you have not taken the time to cement your putting stroke, I suggest you do because it is a stroke saver. Having said that, there are some fundamentals that most player should know and adopt to improve their flat stick play.
Continue readingStarting My 2023 Golf Season Slowly
The warmer temperatures are here. The snow is quickly receding. It is time to break out the clubs and start swinging with earnest. The challenge most players who live in warmer climes have is starting too fast and injuring themselves. This exact scenario has happened to me in the past, but not this year. I am starting a few weeks earlier, indoors, in preparation of when the courses open (hopefully within the next three weeks). Yesterday, I took an hour to clean up my garage, set up my DIY net, swing 20 easy times, and hit 25 golf balls. As in years past, I only used my seven iron while focusing on turn and swing movements. I hit many good balls during a round, however when things go off the rails, my internal chatter and swing thoughts get ramped up. After watching a few videos, I realize that having one swing thought is not necessarily a bad thing. This one thought helps to centre the rest of my swing in order to produce the results I seek….or at least that is what the professionals do.

Congratulations to Jon Rahm on winning the 2023 Masters Championship. On the 40th anniversary of when Seve Ballesteros won his second green jacket, another Spaniard eclipsed the top of the leaderboard at Augusta National. After a wild weekend of weather, Rahm proved that he has the winning game for all conditions. After a strong final round, Rahm outdistanced Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson to win his first of possibly many green jackets. It was fun to watch!
Congratulations Jon Rahm!
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
