Watching the 2022 PGA Championship was great entertainment. Of course congratulations are in order for Justin Thomas for his win in a playoff, but that was not my takeaway from the second Major of 2022. What I notice the most was the amazing drives that all the professionals seemed to perform over and over again. Yes, I know that some of the players were wayward, but their consistency was something to emulate. So, I decided to see if I could find a simple video that would improve my driving distance off the tee. And guess what, I found one!
Continue readingBeing Grateful For Golf and Life
My motivation to play golf this year is as high as normal. I think about all the fun times I could be having on the course when I get a minute to think. This year, I have a few more life things going on that is preventing me from maximizing my time on my new course. This current trend is nothing new for all golfers as we try to juggle our regular lives with the time commitment to play golf. With all that is going on, I wonder if I should close a few golf doors in order to reduce the pull of activity from other sources.

The 2022 PGA Championship is the 104th PGA Championship, to be held from May 19–22 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is not the first time this prestigious event was held at Southern Hills and I am confident it will not be the last. As the play at this Major continues, I stumbled across this video of the challenges faced by PGA professionals at Southern Hills. Many amateurs can relate to this video because we have experienced some of their challenges.
When I wrote this video, Rory McIlroy was leading. I wonder if he will have the 36 hole lead on Saturday. Regardless, I am planning to watch a bit of the action this weekend, but in the meantime I am off to the course.
Have a great weekend.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Playing Two Balls And Learning Lessons
I have recently decided to play two balls as I loop my new nine hole course. I realize it is not the same as playing a full 18 holes, but for now it works for what I am trying to achieve. Right now I am balancing the time I spend on the links with the mountain of yard work that I want to complete. I use two different makes of golf balls and hit which ever is farthest from the green. I keep the different scores and track my shots. I have found out a couple things and have made some changes that is helping me evaluate my game and hopefully take it to the next level.
Continue readingGreens In Regulation Rule…..or Do They?
I had a hard time figuring out a title for this blog because I think that greens in regulation are the most important stat. The reason for my trepidation is because of my round yesterday. I played a quick 18 holes, actually I played nine holes but played two separate balls, and I hit nine greens in regulation and walked away with zero birdies. Normally, I would be happy with 50% GIR for a round, but not yesterday.
