One of my many experiences during my 37+ years in the Canadian Military was that no opportunity should be wasted to learn a lesson. Especially during an exercise when multiple things go wrong. Immediately you will answer yes to my question in the title. It is an understood tenet of golf that the wind does affect your ball flight, distance, and accuracy. I have played in strong wind conditions and make the necessary aim adjustments to ensure that my ball travels on the line that I need to chip close to the hole. As the wind blows, I often notice that the wind does not affect my results as much on my chips as on my regular shots. I understand that the height, distance, and contact play a critical role on longer shots, but I am less confident that this happens when chipping.

Phil Mickelson won his 6th Major yesterday, the 103 PGA Championship. Making history as the oldest Major winner, I wonder what is in store for him moving forward. Phil has proven he can still compete at the highest levels. Unfortunately, I missed all the action due to a sudden unexpected need to help a friend. It is all good because this was definitely more important. However, I cannot overstate the importance of Phil’s win and congratulate him on his historic win. As an aging golfer, I am inspired by his efforts at The Ocean Course and his ability to handle the pressure down the stretch.
