Duck Sighting!

For the past two years I have belonged to two fantasy golf leagues. Each has a different format, yet both require me to weekly select 4 or 6 players depending on the league. I enjoy trying to figure out who is hot and who is not, but for the most part, I suck at selecting the hot player on any given week.

The Golf Channel Fantasy Golf League and PGA Tour Fantasy League driven by AVIS offer different criteria for player selection. Neither is better, but both are extremely tough. Both the leagues offer an opportunity to compete against other golfing fans and maybe some bragging rights! Continue reading

Olympic Golfing Trophy

At the Toronto golf show this year, I was surprised to see the Olympic Golfing Trophy in all its glory! It was very impressive and it was setup beside the RBC Canadian Open Trophy. These displays were both ‘no-touch’ displays, but pictures were more than acceptable.  I enjoy looking at most things historical and seeing both of these trophies was a very special treat. Toronto Golf and Travel Show 2016

Last Friday, I made my annual trek to the Toronto Golf and Travel Show. This year’s trip was extra special because my darling wife accompanied me as I wove my way through the club demos, travel booths and discount shops.

As per previous years, the Toronto Golf show was full of areas to try new equipment, long drive contest, putting contests, swing analyzer, receive lessons, discount shops, and plenty of travel destinations. We enjoyed talking to people from Golf PEI, Golf Association Ontario and Golf Canada. We were there early before the crowds and lasted about 2.5 hours. mastersThe Masters is less than 50 days away! For us snowbound golfing fanatics, April cannot come too soon enough. This year, approximately 95 of the worlds best golfers will make the yearly journey to Augusta Georgia, to vie for the ‘Green Jacket’! This year, The Masters will be played from 7-10 April; are you ready?

Of all the Majors, this one is my favorite. It starts off my golfing season and it is an opportunity get excited to play as I watch the world’s best slug it out. Apparently, I am not alone with view of The Masters stature among the Majors.

Different Golf Swings – Pt2

Last night during my indoor golf league at Rhino Sports, I realized that a different golf swing is required for different course conditions. It was strange, but I had to adjust my swing to fit the hard playing surface of the indoor simulator to get distance with my clubs!

Normally, I trap the ball as seen in the video below. I have found that trapping the ball offers more distance and better control with my irons. However, this style of swing does not fit my woods or hybrids; so like many players I play a more of a sweeping swing with them. Continue reading
