It is Masters week! I am confident that if you have any interest in golf you have reserved your seat on the couch ready for the action. Even if you decide to travel out of the country during the Masters weekend, I am confident your are watching the leaderboard. The hype of The Masters is catching and my old home course of Osprey Links runs a Masters pool where we pick four players and try to accumulate points. It is something that I look forward too each year and this year I think I have the winning team.

If you do not have a putting routine, I suggest that your next trip to the practice area is the time to start to develop one. A putting routine is likely the most important golf process that any player can develop. The best players in the world definitely spend a great deal of time reinforcing their putting prowess and as I watch Tiger Woods, a pre-shot routine can be simple and easily repeatable. In just over a week, the first Major of the year will start. The Masters is my favourite Major because of the history to this event and the fact that it is set up the exact same way every year. Augusta National is an amazing course and I love the play around Amen Corner. The field will be the strongest to date this year and picking a winner will be virtually impossible. But, I think it is time to take a chance and play armchair quarterback.

With the start of my golf season yesterday, the lessons I learned from the 2021 Masters will easily be applied to my golf game. There was not magic shot that made me want to reevaluate my game, but more of lessons that will apply to every golfer regardless of skill. These lessons will not force you to change your swing mechanics, but more on how we approach our game for a mental stand point. I think the final round of the 2021 Masters demonstrated the many mental aspects of golf I espouse and will continue to discuss.

With a weather delay to break up the action, it was difficult to know what would happen when they returned to Augusta National. As it turns out, Matsuyama loved the break and charged forward with the most gains yesterday. Except for a few 68s, there really was not much action at the top of the leaderboard. The players who we thought were going to make a charge, never really got their engines moving. Matsuyama provide the only real excitement for the millions of viewers……or was he?
