Golf Musings and Stuff

The final round of the US Women’s Open golf championship is today. Due to life events, I have not watched a single stroke. Of course this is disappointing, but there is nothing I can do about it.

I have watched the scores and see the Lydia Ko is at the top of the leaderboard. This is not a big surprise, but I was disappointed to see that Brooke Henderson did not make the cut (actually she made the cut and I was mistaken – note added on 11 July 16). Henderson’s performance will be dissected by the pundits, but for we, I will suggest that she will be back soon vying for another championship.

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to introduce golf to my cousin’s son. At 8 years old, Chase is excited to try new sports and his parents are very supportive. We plan to hit the range today and let hit crush some real golf balls. I am looking forward to spending time with Chase, Colby, his younger brother, and my cousins opening a new world of adventures of golf to another generation.

Colby is 5 and likes to do what is older brother does and so he will gladly tag along with us to the range. Unfortunately, Colby is a lefty and it is very difficult finding inexpensive clubs for him. We live in Ontario, Canada, and if anyone has any ideas, we are all ears.

The Open is next week! It is time for The Grateful Golfer community to make their predictions on the winner. So if you are on the predictions page, drop me a line with you choice as champion!

That is all my golf musings for today. I hope you have an awesome Saturday and have the opportunity to play some golf!

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. Jim, I watched Henderson in some of the early coverage and she was not in the zone. Seemed a bit agitated at herself. Considering her recent run of success it’s understandable, but it’s nearly impossible to sustain that level of play for long periods of time. She’ll be back. I expect Lydia Ko to win it today. She’s incredibly steady and never seems upset at anything. Enjoy the coverage if you watch!

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, I will not be able to watch, but a visit with family is worth missing the coverage. Henderson will be back. All young players seem to stumble a bit after winning a two tournaments quickly. Have an awesome day.
