Well, I finally did it! I bought a new sand wedge. It was and wasn’t an impulse purchase. There is a bit of a story behind going with this club that I thought I would share. The main point behind this article is about being grateful so it will fit perfectly with my blog.

Titleist Vokey SM6 Sand Wedge
On 30 March, I had my first oncologist appointment in 16 months. I finished my treatments 4 years ago and have had great follow-ups since, but I was unaware of the information my oncologist passed on during my recent visit. He stated that after treatment, the 2 year mark was a critical number. If anything was to happen before the 2 year mark it wouldn’t be good. The further away from the date, the greater chance of it not coming back. Well, I am 2 years past the 2 year critical mark and was elated to hear the great news. My wife and I thought we won the lottery! I am grateful to my oncologist and his team for everything they did for me and everyone else fighting this terrible disease.

Titleist Vokey SM6 Sand Wedge – Groove Side
After my appointment, as you can imagine, I was walking on air. My darling wife wanted to do a bit more shopping, so I headed off to the golf store in Sudbury.
I had already decided to stick with the Vokey wedge. After all the research and advice (thank you everyone) I thought sticking with what I know was the way to go. I liked my 56° – 8° bounce sand wedge so that is what I bought. The kicker here is that I paid full price. Yup, I went against my rule and paid full price.
I was feeling so good about my previous appointment, I thought what the heck. I bought my new sand wedge and I am one step closer to being ready for golf season. I am excited to try out my new stick and know it will be worth the price.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
I don’t know if I could handle that much good news in one day. Seriously, congrats of the good health and I hope that new wedge brings you nothing but great shots.

Excellent news on the clean bill of health, Jim. Congrats on that. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate news like that than a new wedge either. You’ll get much use from it and I hope it leads to many gimmies for you.
