Having an Unspectacular Golf Season

If you read The Grateful Golfer, you will realize that I try to keep things very positive and focused on all things golf. Without too much effort, I can find something to write about that will either lift my spirits or my game. So today, I decided to think about all the positives of my golf season. As I did, I realized that I could easily think I had an unspectacular golf season, but that, of course, I would just be fooling myself.

A great many things happened this year that I plan to outline in my 2017 self-review; yet I wanted to leave you with this thought in anticipation:

“Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can to” – John Wooden

I am a grateful golfer!

Sometimes our success are overshadowed by our perceived failures, well I hope to shed this thought very soon, but for now, I hope your 2017 golf season was awesome and that you are still hitting the links playing your best golf.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. I find it easier to look back over the year and be positive than just looking at the past couple of months. I have made lots of progress even if these past months have not been up to my expectations.

There were lots of firsts this season like eagling the same hole 4 times in just three months and finally, after 20 years of playing, learning to hit a 3 wood off the deck with some consistency. I had my best score this year too (75) and on a course that had taken me a long time to even break 80 on once.

When I head out to the course tomorrow to enjoy the perfect weather we are having again finally I will do my best to keep those positive thoughts and forget about the recent struggles as I know that negative thoughts are never helpful.
