The 2023 Match Play Event At The Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort

Similar to last year, I am running a fun, members only, Club Championship stroke match play event at the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort starting 7 July. In addition to the members only event, I am running an Open Match Play Tournament for non-members. I have tried to organize the event to start one month earlier and I am looking forward to seeing how the play unfolds. I have a few lessons learned from last year and I hope this year’s events will run as smooth as last year. The following details will clarify exactly what is happening.

To find out more details about this event, you can click on the 2023 Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort Match Play in the menu above.

The Club Championship prize is the same as last year. Sponsored by the Mike and Brenda, the prized parking spot is up for grabs. I plan on keeping it for next year as well.

The Open Match Play event costs $15 with $5 being donated to Youth Sports in Mattawa. I am using this event as a fundraiser to support the local area sports in the schools. This endeavour is new, but something I am passionate about and as time goes on I can grow this into a larger fundraising program to help the student athletes enjoy school sports.

The draws for each event will be live tomorrow. I will have all the rules and regulations posted like last year and the updates to the draws as the happen. Additionally, I will have a hard copy of the draw at the club house as this was the greatest comment from last year.

I am happy with the increase in numbers of players this year. We have a 100% increase for the Club Championship for a total of 18 participants and 14 players for the Open event. Considering the size of the golf course membership, I am happy with the increase in numbers.

Good luck to all the participants. I hope you all play your best golf!

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. Best of luck Jim. I’ve been part of a local charity golf event for years now. They’re a lot of fun and even more work to put on.

I haven’t seen the figures yet for this year’s event but last year’s raised 182 thousand. We had 140k donated in things that were auctioned off at the dinner afterwards and the rest comes from the 300 dollar a head entry fee.

Local businesses are always willing to help out it seems because this is pretty standard each year. I don’t know how Chris does it but his tournament is always full enough to need a and b flights off each tee in the scramble start. Might be something to start thinking about for the future.

Dinners, hotel stays, art, clubs, etc. All donated for the auction to help kids and disadvantaged families.
