Having A Mediocre Round Of Golf

Walking off the course yesterday from my round I felt like I did not play my best game. I shot a strong score, but felt I left many strokes on the course. I was overjoyed with my game, nor was I overly disappointed. My emotions were in the middle of the road and it left me satisfied I played, but that is about it. I am not sure what I could have did differently to change my emotional state when playing. I seemed to be on cruise control when playing; not ideal for playing my best golf.

There is a specific mindset I need to achieve to be engaged in order to play my best golf. My mindfulness and attitude are in line with each other which allows me to focus on each shot. The process that allows my mental game to engage quickly is my pre-shot routine. Specifically, my visualization of each shot. Yesterday, I was not as diligent with my pre shot routine as I need to be in order to hit my best shots.

I am hitting the links again today for Men’s night. I plan on visualizing with more intent in order to be engaged with each shot. I realize that a scramble format (for Men’s Night) is a bit of a challenge, but I think it will serve the team well if I play my game to the best of my ability.

Do you visualize your golf shots before hitting them?

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. Is there ever a time when we can honestly say we were overjoyed with our round. I suspect yes but it is rare. We are hard on ourselves, always thinking about a shot we didnt hit 100% or a few putts we left short or lipped out. For many yrs I have tried to come to turns with my game and whatever it was during a round, whether good or bad. Some days I am happy with an iffy score and some days I am disappointed with a better score. Thats golf
