I like watching golfing legends show some magic around the greens. Playing in many tournaments, I have made a few clutch shots, but not like the ones in this video:
It is amazing how easy these players make things look. They stand over the ball cool as cucumbers and drain almost impossible shots. I realize that some seem relatively routine, but we have to add the pressure of the entire tournament resting on the one shot. That is something that many golfers cannot handle.
Hitting the clutch shot is not as challenging as it may seem. What many golfers do not understand is that the preparation for this shot happens months or years in the past. Practicing the delicate shots around the green or making up stories in our mind to add pressure helps when faced with clutch situations. The routine of hitting a chip shot should never change regardless of the situation and that is something we learn from experience.
The next time you are faced with a tough up and down, forget about the current situation and focus on following your routine and delve into the memories of successfully hitting the shot in the past. You will likely find that the pressure is reduced and making the shot is not all that scary.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
