Aligning our body in order to hit a straight golf ball can be challenging. There are so many factors involved with finding the proper alignment it can be daunting for many beginners. As with all players, I walked the path of poor alignment early in my career, but now I think I have a handle on how to properly align my body in order to hit the shot I want. After many year of alignment challenges, I found a use for alignment sticks. I wish I had found them at the beginning of my golfing adventure, but it is what it is and today I use them regularly. Do you?
Alignment sticks can be made our of any material. Two golf clubs could be used as this important training aide. There is really is no limitation as to what you can use to help provide visual cues as to how to align our body and clubs in order to execute an awesome golf shot. If you search for golf alignment sticks on YouTube, you will find a plethora of videos. I looked a quite a few and found on that is simple and explains the use of each stick.
The above video is simple and easy to understand. I provides immediate feedback and provides solutions to a potential slice. The interesting thing is the use of each stick has a specific role that is easy to understand. Using alignment sticks will help your golf game. It might take a bit of time to figure out what works for you, but for me, the juice was worth the squeeze.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Alignment sticks, a couple of clubs, or old shafts, or even a few tees. Whatever we can use, it’s helpful.
I’ve never really had a problem getting aligned. I assume because I’ve always aimed the clubface first and set up to it. But I find them very helpful when practicing shaping my shots.
I’ve played around a bit with my 20 year old driver of late. First getting a new shaft a couple weeks back and this week adding some lead tape strategically around the head. It’s dialed in. Not as long as the new driver but not much shorter and more accurate.
So now I’ll have to play around and test using some on the new driver too. I want the old one for the home course. It’s got an uncanny ability to get a ball up in the air and having one more club for cutting the corner on number ten might win me an extra skin or two.
I’m grateful to have a course I can just walk on and hit balls and test things like that.
