Men’s Night at Osprey Links Golf Course

I love playing in Men’s night. It is an opportunity to play some fun golf with absolutely no pressure. Last Wednesday, approximately 45 players(normally closer to 100 during mid-season) teed it up for a straight 4 man scramble. No special rules, nor were there any restrictions on putts or drives. It was a great game and to top things off, our regular crew was back together for the first time in 2018 with the exception of Jimmy D. He was an add on and fit in perfectly with Blair Rick and I. In case you are wondering, Men’s Night is more than just golf and here is why!

The First Round of the Year

Kirk and Jim working on our game at the range.

My first round of golf is in the books. I was a bit worried that I would not be able to play 18 holes given everything going on with my health, but that goal is complete. Before I played yesterdays round, I had a chance to hit the range with one of my closest friends. Kirk came up for a quick visit and as we hit a bucket, got caught up. It is important to cover your noggin to avoid dangerous situations like sunburn or heat stroke. This is commonsense to most of us, but what kind of hat do most players wear?  Continue reading

Winning Golf Tournaments Is About Who is Hot and Who is Not

We spend hours honing our golf skills. The very dedicated players will hit the gym, range, and course on the same day. It becomes a life style that produces winning results, or does it? I recently concluded that winning a professional golf tournament boils down to who is play great golf for a period of 4 days. Occasionally, a player will win two weeks in a row, but then go quiet for a while. It is impossible to sustain a winning form for longer, the days of dominant players like Tiger Woods or Vijay Singh are over. Continue reading

Hitting The Range For the First Time in 2018

My first range visit is in the books. Two days ago, it was 26º C and the sun was shining. It was a perfect day to swing my clubs for the first time in 2018. Like previous years, I went with no expectations, but a positive attitude to just enjoy myself. And that is exactly what I did, had a great time and loved the day. However, like a true student of the game, I was focused a few things to set a strong foundation moving forward. Continue reading
