The mountains of information that golfers must sift through to be a better player is daunting. Regardless of what your challenges are in your game, the million of suggestions offered on the internet make it almost impossible to determine which tip has merit. As my season starts to unfold (still a couple of weeks away before opening day at my home course), it is important to mentally and physically prepare. Trying to wade through the muck of confusion, I found a video that all golfers need to watch and heed. Save Casting For Fishing Not Golfing

Bobby Jones is a legend in golf. Trying to capitalize on Jones’ amazing abilities, Warner Brothers created a series of 18 golf videos in 1931 through 1932 that addressed many challenges with a golf swing. I have decided to watch all of the videos over the next few weeks because the information offered by Jones is universal for all amateurs. After watching my first video on casting (what we call it now), Jones highlighted exactly what my challenges were over the space of my golfing career. He explains the issue and offers a solution that is simple and understandable. This is information that is useful for all golfers regardless of their abilities.

Putting Fundamentals: Not Just For Beginners

Every golfer uses the putter more than any other club in their bag. If you are not sure this is the truth, I am confident that if you analyze your last round of golf, my statement will prove correct. Knowing this, I often wonder why players do not spend more time working on their fundamentals of putting. Over the years, I have spent many hours perfecting my putting stroke. It is unique and works for my game. If you have not taken the time to cement your putting stroke, I suggest you do because it is a stroke saver. Having said that, there are some fundamentals that most player should know and adopt to improve their flat stick play.

Swing Thoughts To Help Your Game

The golf swing is a mix of many different movements. The slightest change to a smooth swing can result in a failed shot. For the longest time, I have espoused to limit our swing thoughts to none if possible. Unfortunately, to achieve this result I must be playing well enough to let things happen. I hit many good balls during a round, however when things go off the rails, my internal chatter and swing thoughts get ramped up. After watching a few videos, I realize that having one swing thought is not necessarily a bad thing. This one thought helps to centre the rest of my swing in order to produce the results I seek….or at least that is what the professionals do.

Mark Crossfield provides sage advice for the fledgling amateur. No wait, he offers sage advice for all golfers regardless of your skill level. I stumbled across this quick video that explained what all golfers should know and practice in order to strengthen their short game. Personally, I have used this advice for years depending on the situation, lie, and pin position. I think that if you adopt Crossfield’s tip, your short game will drastically improve.
