Annoyed At The Golf Industry

Have you ever sat down to read some interesting articles on golf and been bombarded by ‘white noise’ advertisements on anything relating to golf. The challenge facing the golf industry is that they have embraced social media as the medium of choice for advertising. I mean, who can really blame them because that is how the new generation of players communicate. However, as an older established player, I am not swayed by the hollow promises that new technology or a revolutionary ‘swing fix’ will dramatically improve my game. Golf has and always will be a game of incrementalism for improvement and as such, the golf industry has bolted from its roots.

Are You a Player or Poser?

Right now there are a thousand cliché at this time reference a player verses a poser on the golf course. Additionally, you probably have just as many players you have encountered over the years who fit either category. Of course I am not looking for you to name names, but I can say that avoid posers as much as possible. I find that they are energy suckers and I have not time to waste on such individuals. I would prefer to spend my valuable time with golfers because they invigorate my game and for that I am grateful.

Nursing a Back Injury

Yup, it is true. For about 5 days, I have nursed a back injury. It happened the last time I was out on the links. After the 16th hole, I felt my back suddenly get tight on the lower right side of my back. Additionally, I felt tightness through out my right hip and as such have kept it cool for the past few days. I actually cancelled two rounds (Wednesday and Thursday) which is rare for me, but it was the smart thing to do! I am on the road to recovery and let me explain what I am doing.

Are You A Serious Golfer?

I would consider myself a serious golfer. Well, to a degree I do because as an amateur there are limitations to my abilities and motivation to be a better players. This is an unfortunate reality for most players who at one time in their career were too involved to realize that their “dedication” to the game was actually hurting their scores. This seems to be the case for Jordan Spieth as he recently explains during an interview.
