Okay you golf geniuses, what is the secret at winning at golf? There must be some magic formula that ensures I can walk into the winners circle more often than not. Is it a big secret that only you know and will not share? I mean come on, I need to know!

Senior Men’s Ryder Cup 2017

In North Bay, Osprey Links Golf Club and the North Bay Country Club play and annual home and away called the Ryder Cup. Each team consists of 32 players over the age of 55. Creating 16 teams of 2, they compete in a head to head competition for the Caldwell Cup. This year, we played in the scramble format for both days. Each 9 holes was worth 1 point for a two-day total of 64 points. To win on team must accumulate 32.5 points over the two days. This year, the Golf and Country Club won 37 to 27.  Continue reading

Golfing for Charity

Golf is a great sport to host a charity event. Participants receive a tangible something for the donation which usually includes meal and great prizes. The sold out charity golf tournament, Tee It Up for Mattawa Healthcare, starts today with a practice round and evening barbecue. On Wednesday, the actual day of the event, I can expect meals, prizes and a great time. In some cases, celebrities like Jeff Hutchinson, show up to lend their support for the charity; they add that extra something to the tournament. Keeping in mind that the tournament is to raise money for the charity, golf is still being played. Continue reading

Dog Fight Format in Golf

The dog fight is a different format for Men’s Night. At Osprey Links Golf Course, we seem to play this format more often than not. I have never played this format before, and actually never heard of it until recently. Yesterday, I left you hanging. I quickly left a brief statement that I did not have the time to explain the sure way of winning a golf tournament! Well today, I am going to explain my view and why I think this way!

Before I explain my methodology, it is important to explain that this methodology transcends all tournaments, but there are some variations for each format.
