My Golf Season Is Quickly Coming To An End

I realize that it is only the first of September, but around here the weather quickly changes. Thus, my play takes a dramatic turn to the left and I play less and less. Additionally, the temperatures can very between the middle of the night and morning, that we will be playing on golf course that is constantly wet with dew. Of course, we may get second summer, but that will not change the fact that it is time for me to start shifting my focus from playing golf to preparing for winter. Can you see my sad face as I write this last line. 😦

There is really not much else to say about the ending of my golf season except I still have a couple of milestones still to come. This weekend, my friends Kirk and Michelle are visiting after many years not seeing each other due to work and travel. Kirk will be brining the Duck. And for those who do not know about our competition, then stay tuned for the details! It is a great story and lots of fun for us.

I am in the finals for the Stroke Match Play Club Championship against my friend Bruce. We have played head to head before and Bruce won on the 18th hole by sinking a 25 foot putt for birdie. We fought back and forth for the entire round and although I was disappointed with the result, I definitely was not disappointed by the great fun and exciting competition. Of course this year I plan to bring my A game and hopefully change the results. This match should happen within the next couple of weeks.

On 9 September I am playing with my friend Rick is a Senior Two Person Scramble. We played in it last year and won a prize and we are hoping that this year we move up in the standings. It is always a great time playing in a competition with Rick. Hopefully, we can match my last two person scramble score of 11 birdies! We have the game, it just depends on how well we putt.

Although my golf season is quickly coming to an end, there are still a few things to look forward to before it all ends. What is happening this year is very similar to previous years. Our golf season is short for use, but we try to make the most of it when we can.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. I always feel guilty when you right that your season is soon ending because I’ve been down here wishing for summer to end and our best golfing weather to begin.
