Playing Golf In The Shadows

Depending on the time of day you play golf, shadows can cause a challenge. I like to play in the morning, but have played in the evening enough times to know that shadows do make our club choices and line selection difficult. The greatest challenge, at least for my game, is while putting on the green. Even putting through the shadow of the pin and flag is a challenge for my game. Shadows can be my kryptonite on the greens. How about you?

Follow Through On All Your Golf Shots!

One of the most underrated aspect of our golf swing is the follow through. I have watched so many different versions of this critical move that I am confident that the follow through is an after thought for most amateurs. Years ago I know that I was focused on the position of my club at the top of my swing vice where it finished. As my knowledge and understanding of grew, I realized that my overlooking my follow through, I was negating all the effort I made in the other aspects of my swing. Well, I am here to say that if you do not have an understanding of your follow through, you are likely holding back your golf game.

Staying Positive and Motivated During A Round Of Golf

Every golfer experiences moments of frustration and down right disappointment with their golf game. During every round, we hit poor shots (sometimes way more than we want) mixed in with great shots. Other times the opposite is true. Regardless of which game shows up, my experience shows that staying mentally positive and motivated is the best way to dampen the poor hitting moments during each round of golf.

Three Driver Faults That Limit Your Distance

If you are a golfer who struggles with your driver, I know I do from time to time, it could be because you are hitting the ball too low on the clubface. I know this swing fault is something that I worked on for years. Over the past two years, I tried to force a swing change by adjusting my ball position and tilting my shoulders more on setup. All my adjustments did was create more swing challenges and poor driver contact. I went back to my old swing and realized that I was approaching my desire to improve distance off the tee all wrong. Thus, as I stated in previous articles, I reverted back to what was working and concentrated on improving what was already working. What I realized is that I was creating the conditions to hit the ball low on my driver face. I fixed my challenges on my own, but I wish I had some guidance from Christina Ricci sooner.

Hitting The Long Ball In Golf

Every golfer wants to hit the ball 300 yards off the tee. I know I would love to have that long ball distance, but alas it is not possible. There is a misnomer about what hitting the long ball actually means. I average 240 yards off the tee on a good day, but generally it is closer to 230 yards. Keeping driving distances in perspective, hitting a long ball for me would be 260 yards. Periodically, I am able to poke one out that really travels. I wish I could do it all the time, however it does not seem to be possible. Therefore, for my game, 260 yards is a long ball. But what does that mean in the big scheme of my golf game?
