Building a Golf Plan for 2017

Well it is time for me to build my golf plan for 2017. I am not exactly sure what my plan is going to look like, but I can say that I getting plenty of help. My treasure trove of information is from sources you may not expect, but they provide straight forward information that I have come to trust.

Building a golf plan is challenging to say the least. It will be guide as I attempt to reach my goal of being a scratch golfer. I have found over the years that there is no right or wrong answer to building a golf plan. Each plan should be tailored to the player and regardless of its content, it should have an achievable end state.

I am grateful for making contact with many great players and students of the game. These players (and bloggers) make me better by providing information I can relate too and understand. There are three recent articles that have hit home for me and I think will benefit all you readers:

  • Josh at Golf is Mental – Seems like each year I start setting my golf goals for the upcoming season earlier and earlier. Although our golf season here in Alberta doesn’t typically start until around April, there are plenty of things that can be done during the winter to get yourself in a position to have a stellar golf season.
  • Mike at 36aday – We’re well into 2017 now and while the golf clubs continue to sit idly, except for indoor dome or simulator action, I know it’s only a few months now until the season begins.  But I am not spending of the off-season quietly sitting and waiting for spring’s arrival.  A new year brings optimism but also a plan and a commitment to improve.
  • Vet at The Goofy Game of Golf Searching for the Answer – During my frustrating year, one of the things I did was to go online to see if I could find something, that might help my game.  Of course, there is a bevy of information out there, some good, some not so good. But the real eye opener is the amount of conflicting information on how to go about hitting a golf ball. What’s a beginning golfer to do?   Everything I am about to list here, comes from  some of the most respected names in golf, ranging from Bob Toski, Ken Venturi, Butch Harman, Jack Nicklaus, and many more. I am going to list them in the order of what I think contains the most misinformation and that are the most confusing. Don’t hold your breath while you are reading this because you will die.

As I develop my game plan for 2017, I have lots to think about and I want to thank Josh, Mike, and Vet for helping me out. Building a golf plan is challenging, but it is an important step to being a better golfer.

Do you have golf plan? If so, what is your plan based upon?

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
